This is a very elegant boy hanging a ball in semi-translucent whitish with russet inclusions jade nephrite, the carved using the natural pebble to depict fine details of this jade. The boy is seen playing with a ball, that signifies the moon pearl, which symbolizes blessings and the ball represents also the sun, that is Yang. This seem to be a late 18th to early 19th century. This is a very interesting and attractive wooden playing card box with a nice carving pale celadon jade nephrite plaque on the cover. A young boy and young girl in the centre with flowers and birds motif finely incised. This box is made with a good quality wood. This is an early Republic period around 1920. The carving measures 123 x 88 x 5 mm (4.8 x 3.45 x 0.2 inches); the box measures 148 x 110 x 80 mm (5.8 x 4.35 x 3.15 inches). A light grey-green with dark brown and black striations nephrite jade of a square seal with buffalo. This carving has a lot of charm and is probably early Ming, but may actually turn out to be earlier. This is a unique and rare piece of seal having as handle reclining buffalo. In the middle is pierced for a cord. It seem this jade have been buried a long time, the surface show some black and brown specks. This single seal characters are cut broadly in relief. This attractive buffalo seal carved is in good condition except some damage in one corner, probably the owner of this seal did it himself to avoid fake signature; to make this seal unique.
